Starting Work
February 21, 2009 – 10:26 pmso i started working on the next record in earnest today. well, not that it was an overly productive day, but i did spend a good chunk of the afternoon at dirty water sound getting a feel for the vibe and a bit of the environment which is pretty cool. its a real musicians studio, run by a very cool man who knows his business and who just really loves music. when i am actually ready to start tracking its going to run pretty smoothly i think.
yes, i’d like to do most of the actual tracking in the studio rather than my living room simply because i want a more analog product this time. oh sure there will also be electronic elements and digital components to the next record, but i really want to track to the 2-inch machine with real drums, mic’d guitar cabinets and all of the real sound benefits you get from that.
so what i’m going to be doing is writing and creating scratch tracks here at home, and then bring those into the studio and basically “re-do” them. that’s the plan anyway.
