Good Bye StereoFame
February 14, 2009 – 8:38 pmwell, i’ve had it. i hadn’t been back to my StereoFame page in a while, and when i came back to it this evening i realized just how much of a bad fit that place really is for me, my music and what i’m trying to do with it. i deleted what (old) songs i had there, and removed any and all information. i wish i could donate the points i collected. see, if StereoFame actually had a way to spend points on charities or other such things instead of just stupid “stuff” then they might have something there.
but its really stupid, an ipod? xbox? guitar picks? a t-shirt? come on. give me a break. how about donation to the leukemia and lymphoma society of america? or to local soup kitchens? but no, its a game to get stuff. we don’t need more stuff.
i watched a video StereoFame posted about a recent event they hosted in NYC. holy god that sealed it for me. its the idea that making music is a gateway to being a vapid industry tool in the hopes of becoming famous. hey, it may work for some. good for them.
i firmly believe its the mentality of StereoFame that is what cheapens the act of making your own music and sharing it with others. so because of that, i’m leaving that place. i need more real, not less.
