Well, Today Sucked
March 16, 2008 – 8:53 pmIts too bad that most of my inspiration to come up with the crap I do comes from days like this. I live in Boston, and for some reason I thought it was a good idea to go to the Bay Side Expo to see the flower show, with a bunch of friends. Its something I do nearly every year, since I moved here in 2005.
I did manage to grab a few pictures, but for the most part I just camped out in a secluded corner, after being completely over stimulated (for an AS, that’s usually a very bad thing).
Writing music is the ultimate low-stim exercise I can think of, the world gets so much simpler and easier to understand. The world is just tones, frequencies, melodies, rhythms and beats. Organized, working in harmony and very easy to read.
After today, I’m reminded why I’m bothering with this project in the first place. After completely melting down, and taking the Red Line train home (after turning down a ride from friends) and listening to “Travel is Dangerous” by Mogwai, over and over again, all I could think about was what this record is going to look and sound like when its done.
I honestly don’t know if putting out this record is going to make anything better, but the process of working on it at least makes sucky days, like today, suck just a little less. Just wish I could remember that during a full on melt down.
